Director of Defense and Foreign Policy Studies
Matthew Fay is director of defense and foreign policy studies at the Niskanen Center. He has a B.A. degree in political science from Saint Xavier University and has two master’s degrees, one in international relations from American Military University and one in diplomatic history from Temple University. He has previously published research on nuclear weapons, intelligence leadership, defense politics, and grand strategy. His work has appeared in RealClearDefense, Defense One, The Hill, and War on the Rocks. His research interests include U.S. foreign policy, grand strategy, and defense politics. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in political science at George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government. He is also a fellow with the school’s Center for Security Policy Studies.
