Geoff Kabaservice

Geoffrey Kabaservice is Niskanen’s Vice President for Political Studies. He hosts The Vital Center Podcast and writes at the All Things in Moderation Substack.

Kabaservice is the author of several books, including The Guardians: Kingman Brewster, His Circle, and the Rise of the Liberal Establishment (Henry Holt, 2004) and Rule and Ruin: The Downfall of Moderation and the Destruction of the Republican Party, from Eisenhower to the Tea Party (Oxford 2012); the latter was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year.

Kabaservice has written for numerous national and international publications and has been a visiting assistant professor at Yale University, a program manager at the Advisory Board Company, a columnist for The New Republic and The Guardian, and research director for the Republican Main Street Partnership. His research interests include meritocracy, moderation, and the history of the Republican Party.

Kabaservice earned a Ph.D. from Yale University, a master’s degree from Cambridge University, and a bachelor’s degree from Yale.
