WASHINGTON D.C, June 19, 2017- The Niskanen Center is pleased to welcome Linda Chavez as a Senior Fellow. Chavez, a syndicated columnist and political analyst, has over 35 years of experience in civil rights and immigration issues. She was named a ‘Living Legend’ by the Library of Congress in 2000 for her contributions to America’s historical and cultural legacy.
“Linda Chavez is among the most thoughtful and insightful conservatives in America today. She has well-earned the designation of ‘Living Legend’ that was bestowed upon her by the Library of Congress in 2000,” said Jerry Taylor, president of the Niskanen Center. “We’re delighted to have her at the Niskanen Center, and I look forward to working with Linda to promote an open, welcoming society.”
Chavez has authored several books including Out of the Barrio: Toward a New Politics of Hispanic Assimilation (1991), which the Denver Post described as a book that “should explode the stereotypes about Hispanics that have clouded the minds of patronizing liberals and xenophobic conservatives alike.”
“I am delighted to join the Niskanen Center,” said Chavez. “The Center’s work on immigration is especially important at this time and I hope to contribute to the Center’s fine work.”
The Niskanen Center is a Washington, D.C.-based libertarian think tank that works to change public policy through direct engagement in the policymaking process.
